The story behind the story
Growing up I was a voracious reader and couldn’t get enough books. I loved being able to open a story, go somewhere new, and feel immersed and excited with the characters. I hated English throughout high school and let’s be real- college seminar was about as exciting as watching paint dry. I loved reading the classics such as Charles Dickens, Shakespeare, Dune, and Emily Bronte, and newer books like the Magic Treehouse series, Eragon, Animorphs, and Artemis Fowl. And don’t even get me started on Manga and watching Anime, that’s a whole other website.
Realization
When I was in healthcare the pandemic swept the globe and changed everything. I felt so lost and helpless that within the confines of the work I had, we could only do so much especially when getting a box of gloves, K-N95 masks, and non-ethanol sanitizer was like Christmas. I struggled with feeling so inadequate when being strong for others meant throwing out a life raft to others while I drowned. The idea of having a way to help others on my terms, through experience, lifting stigma, strength, and story highly appealed to me, thus Cravenbolt Books was born.
